The Department of Linguistics and the Department of English & ELT Methodology at Charles University invite applications for 1 PhD position in psycholinguistics.
The recruitment is part of a 3 year project focussing on Bilingualism carried out in collaboration with the University of Cambridge. The researcher will be based in Prague, but they are expected to travel to Cambridge for short research visits, to discuss their project with colleagues and present their work at Cambridge Language Sciences.
The PhD project must fall within the general aim of the grant, which is the study of the acquisition of basic syntactic operations in bilingual children. Interested applicants are invited to send a research proposal that would fall into these aims.
The ideal candidate holds an MA degree in Linguistics or a closely related discipline and has expertise in syntax/morphology and/or language acquisition. Knowledge of Czech or another Slavic language is not required, but it will be an asset during the selection. Knowledge of English is expected at level C1 or above.

This position is full time, and is payed 20.000CZK per month, for 3 years (no taxes). Indicative costs in Prague are:
- 4000-6000 CZK per month, accommodation in residence hall.
- 240 CZK per month, cost for transports
- 100-150 CZK per day, full meal at the university cafeteria.
Some paid teaching opportunities may be available as well after the 1st year.
